Wildflowers of Malta

 

Another plus for going to Malta in April is that with the cooler spring weather, the fields were green and the wildflowers were blooming.  We were told that in a month or a bit more, everything there would be brown and dried up because of the hot and dry Mediterranean summer weather.  

Imagine my surprise to find the orchid in the above photo blooming in several places.  This is the pyramidal orchid.  Even more shocking was the fact that Malta is host to 39 different types of wild orchids.   Here are photos of the lovely wildflowers of Malta.

So there you have it.  A lovely trip with a very nice group of people with a little bit of everything that Malta has to offer.      

BTW--They also grow the best strawberries I have ever tasted!
