America's Stonehenge

This past weekend, I had the privilege to visit America’s Stonehenge in southern New Hampshire, about 45 minutes north of Boston.  I was attending a dowsing workshop on site taught by Maria Wheatley, a master dowser from England.  I actually briefly met her at Avebury almost a year ago.  Our group of students was there to learn how to dowse ley lines, geospirals, and the energy of megalithic standing stones, among other earth energies.  Maria uses a single copper dowsing rod.  I have used a pendulum with success for almost 30 years, but not a rod.  I was looking forward to learning a new technique!

America’s Stonehenge does not resemble Stonehenge in the UK much at all.  It consists of a central area with structures, walls, chambers and a propped up alter stone.  In the surrounding area can be found serpentine walls, some with windows in them, and a series of monoliths marking the important solstice and equinox sunrises and sunsets.  There are also lunar alignments marked as well.  The whole property is about 110 acres, but the public only has access to about 20 acres in the center of the property.

It is amazing that there is anything there to see at all, as this ancient and sacred area had been used and abused up until the Stone family took possession in 1958. Many years before that, the locals used the site as an easy way to quarry the granite stones, thus carrying off much of what made up the structures.  There was also extensive vandalism before the site was adequately secured.  So what you see here now has been reconstructed to its original form, although there is no way of knowing what has been permanently removed. The granite contains quartz, which makes it highly energized.

What intrigued me the most were the astronomical alignments at the site, which one could relate to the field of archeoastronomy.  Fortunately most of the very large monoliths marking the important solar alignments were intact in their original positions, with a few lying on the ground.  Who created this and why, no one knows.  Radio carbon dating puts the ruin’s age as early as 2000 BC, with the alignments fixed at about 1500 BC.  This is not a style of construction that any Native Americans would have used, so who was there to create this fascinating site perhaps 4000 years ago if not further back?  This is an issue at most megalithic sites around the world, as there were no written records, and one cannot carbon date stone.

Through research in recent years, it was found that there are at least 18 solar and lunar alignments and 24 stellar alignments on the property.  A fallen 14 foot monolith  was also discovered.  4000 years ago, the site consisted of bare granite with very little top soil.  The builders had an easy time determining where all of the alignments were, as there was a clear view out to the horizon in every direction.

Even though I found the dowsing training interesting, I also used my pendulum in conjunction with that.  On Sunday afternoon after everyone left at the end of the training, I went back out to do some wandering around on my own.  I was particularly interested in the huge standing stones marking the solar alignments.  Pendulum testing indicated that each one of them was highly energized with a vortex of positive energy spiraling up from the ground where they were anchored and out the top of the stone.  Each one had some sort of point at the top, thus focusing the energy.  Also, through the procession of the equinoxes, each point is now a bit off of alignment to the solar event from when they were originally placed.

Even though there was a lot of higher vibrational energy to be found there, the whole site was not highly energized, not like what you find at Stonehenge in the UK.  Here, it was a patchwork of heavy and light energy.  So, I concentrated my wandering at the end with the megaliths where I knew the beneficial energy was.

Below are photos of America’s Stonehenge.  If you would like more information on this fascinating place you can go to their website here.

Here are some of the chambers.

If you look into this chamber, you can see the lighter stone, which is quartzite.  It lights up when the equinox sun rises and shines into the chamber.

There were very few straight walls.  Most were wavy, and called serpent walls.  Maria said that they followed the undulating earth currents there.Note the head of the serpent in the first 2 photos.

Here is the Altar Stone.  It is not known what kind of ceremony could have been done there.

My favorites were the highly energized monoliths that marked the solar alignments.  They also marked the leylines on the site, which were perfectly straight.

You will notice that all of the trees have been cleared past the stones so that the sunrises and sunsets can be seen at the horizon.

The ley line that connected the Winter Solstice sunset stone and the Summer Solstice sunrise stone goes all the way to Stonehenge in the UK via a straight line.  Amazing!

I spent that last afternoon getting energized by the monoliths.  To put the frosting on my cake, I discovered a pink lady slipper orchid there.

So I had a very quick and intense weekend, which included flying into Boston and negotiating the traffic there.  Totally worth it.  If any of you live on the east coast, I highly recommend a visit to America's Stonehenge.
