Lion's Gate

 

We are now entering the Lion’s Gate energetic window.   This is from July 28 to August 12, more or less.  The Sun is now in the astrological sign of Leo, and we also have a solar eclipse on August 12, so there is a lot going on!

I can see where all of this is confusing if you want to honor the occasion with some sort of meditation, ceremony or group gathering.  Clarity is important here. 

First of all, the 8:8 Lion’s Gate portal is a New Age concept that was created in the late 1980’s to blend ancient Egyptian traditions with numerology and astrology.  Someone must have thought that this was a good idea that would make some money at the time!  The idea snowballed and now has all sorts of meanings attached to it. 

Traditionally, the Heliacal rising of the star Sirius signaled the flooding of the Nile River in ancient Egypt.   It was the Egyptian New Year that heralded a time of increased fertility, abundance, renewal and growth for the people and the land.  This date is marked by the first time that the star Sirius was seen just before sunrise.  Back then, this event occurred some time in June, but because of the procession of the equinoxes, it now occurs around mid August.  (Not exactly on the 8^th!)  The Egyptian goddess Sopdet represented Sirius.  She is pictured with a star on the top of her head.  Her Greek name is Sothis. 

Interestingly enough, most if not all of the megalithic temples on Malta have their main corridors aimed at either the Heliacal rising of Sirius in the southeast, or the setting of Sirius in the southwest.   They had a clear view of the Mediterranean Sea at that time, so this event must have been spectacular. This was a major big deal for the ancient cultures of the Mediterranean part of the world.

Sirius is the brightest star in the night sky.  Tradition has it that beings from that star system helped seed life on our planet eons ago.  So many people, as do I, have a strong connection the 6D Sirian High Council.  At this auspicious time of the year, it would be nice to do some kind of honoring of our progenitors, however you relate to that.  Even better if you live in a place where you can look out across the ocean right before sunrise. 

There are several websites on the internet where you can find the exact date for Sirius rising at your location.  Where I live, it does rise on exactly August 8^th!  If you are further south in latitude, it may be a day or two earlier, and north of my latitude, a few days later than the 8^th.  If you can get together with a group of like minded souls, wonderful!  I am not so sure about the New Age “portal” deal.  That may or may not happen.  Or you can create your own.  However you honor Sirius, be open to something special happening. 

Flying Free

 

I have been an avid bird watcher all of my adult life.  Yesterday, I had an opportunity to drive up to Cedar Mountain east of Cedar City to watch the release of 3 barn owls that had been brought to the Enoch Wildlife Rescue 4 months ago.  These owls were taken from their nest illegally as hatchlings, and retrieved by officials somewhere in Nevada.  The wildlife rescue, which is north of Cedar City, was the closest facility where they could be brought.  After 4 months of expert care and feeding, they were ready to go.

The release location was at about 8200’ elevation.  Here you can see Cedar City down below at 6000’.  What a lovely spot! 

The owls were taken out of their carriers and released one by one.  I have seen other owls handled by experts under similar circumstances with little to no fuss.  These barn owls were quite different.  There was a lot of hissing, growling and struggling involved just to get them out of their carriers and ready for release.  Here are some photos.

A Place for Resetting

Life can get pretty busy.  It is full of distractions and obligations.  That is why we all need a place where we can go to let go of all of that and reset our energy fields.  Of course, an ideal way to do that would be to develop a daily meditation practice, if one could find the time! 

For me, I like to go out into nature far away from civilization for my quiet time.  Luckily, there are plenty of places around where I live where I can do just that.  Yesterday, I drove up into the area near Cedar Breaks National Monument east of here to Mammoth Creek for some R & R.  I park on the side of the highway and start wandering along the creek on both sides.  This area is a bit below 10,000’ in elevation.

Normally, there are lots of wildflowers here but because of our ongoing drought, the flowers were few and far between.  Here are a few.

The lighter colored foliage is silver sage. It is the predominant shrub here.  There are also lots of aspen trees.

What I wanted to share is the magic of the water flowing through the creek.  The clean and pure energy is truly hypnotic.  If one stands by the edge of the creek, I believe that one’s energy field can be cleared and purified.  So I took my time wandering so as to soak in the vibes.  Here are a few audios of the creek’s waster flowing over the rocks.  Feel free to listen more than once!

On my way back to my car, I took a few photos of Hancock Peak in the distance.  It is a 10, 600’ tall ancient cinder cone that is 500,000 years old.  This whole part of Utah  has been very actively volcanic in the ancient past. 

Luckily I got up to the area fairly early, as our annual monsoon rains are starting to come through.  

You don't want to be out in the open at such a high elevation during a thunder storm.  Talk about electrifying your energy field! 

Happy Faces

Yesterday, Saturday, we had our annual Cedar City Jamboree, which included live entertainment, food, games, commercial and nonprofit tents and most importantly, a huge car show.  The main street of town was blocked off for several blocks for all for this.  I attend this event every year to photograph the very interesting and artistically restored cars.  They all have unique personalities.  As we are in the midst of a heat wave here, the temps were in the high 90’s while I was walking around, so I did not stay there more than a few hours.

I pick a different theme each year for the photos, and this year, it was happy faces.  Enjoy!
