The city of Sanliurfa was our home base for the last few days of the trip. It was the birthplace of the Prophet Abraham. How appropriate for us to visit a very sacred historic site named “The Pool of Abraham”. It is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike and is located in a Muslim neighborhood in the southern part of the city.
Indeed, this place was very tranquil and serene, even when crowded with people.
Shortly after we got there, the tourist police arrived to ostensibly “protect” us.
As we gathered for a group photo with the police, a bunch of other people joined in. What a fabulous experience!
