Yucatan and Calakmul

I have just returned from a very interesting trip to Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula and Calakmul, visiting most of the Mayan ruins in those areas.  Some places I had visited before, but many were quite new to me.  They are all quite magical!  The above photo is the view of the observatory at Chichen Itza from the front of our hotel, we were that close.

I have just finished sorting through most of my photos, and will be posting them along with some commentary.  This will not be a travelogue as I will not be posting the day by day happenings.  I will be choosing various topics and putting up the photos that match.  If you would like to read about my 2018 trip to some of the same areas, you can read about that in posts from February of 2018.

So more Mayan magic to come!

  1. Carla, will you please tell me the name of the tour company you use for these archeological trips? You had given it to me once and I cannot find it. I am interested in the standing stones in Northern France and Brittany and the Cathedral at Chartres. I believe there was a trip to took to to those places. Thank you. I enjoy reading you blog.

  2. Sorry for the annoying typos. Wish there was an edit option. The last sentence should read "I believe there was a trip that took you to those places."

  3. That trip was run by the Archaeological Institute of America, AIA. They run that one every year, and I think that it will be coming up again the end of may.
