Equinox Part 2

Yesterday, Monday, was the official equinox.  As always, there is a several day period on either side of the actual event to honor that date and do ceremony.  For the solstices, you have about a 5 day window, but for the equinoxes, maybe one day on either side of the actual date.  That is because the sun “appears” to be moving faster at equinox time, and slower during the solstices.

Fortunately, the evening skies yesterday were perfectly clear, and the weather was delightfully balmy, so I drove out to the Parowan Gap sacred site in the early evening to observe the sun setting through the gap.  I drove up a dirt road and parked at the designated site, which is the same for both fall and spring equinoxes.  Imagine my surprise to find the same 2 guys that were there 6 months ago for the Vernal Equinox, once again camping next to their Tesla Cybertrucks!

So at that point, there were just 5 of us at the site.  Me, the 2 campers, and a grandfather and grandson sitting in their ATV.  Nice and quiet.  As I started tuning in and taking some photos, I noticed a few vehicles coming up the road.  And then a few more and more until there were about 60 people and I do not know how many cars were there by the time the sun set in the gap.   What was going on?  I suspect that this was an organized church activity, as most of the people looked like they were a part of a youth group.  There were families with children there, too.
I did my best to tune in and enjoy the equinox, but there were so many distractions that it was difficult.  As soon as the sun was down, I left for home.  Here is the sunset.

Most years for equinox and solstice, I may be the only one there.  This was quite the unusual event.  I hope all of those people benefited from being in that special place at that special time.

Equinox

We are closing in fast on the Equinox for Monday September 22nd.  It is Autumnal for the northern hemisphere and Vernal for the southern hemisphere.  It makes no difference, as the energy is the same all over the planet on those days!

I have been checking the weather to see if I can go out to the Parowan Gap to photograph the sunset some time over the weekend.  We are having some rainy and cloudy days here, so I will wait until Monday night when the weather clears up.  If I am successful, I will post photos of the event.  In the mean time, my bowl burning can take place rain or shine.

You can do a bowl burning or any kind of ceremony over the weekend leading up to the actual date of the Equinox.  The Equinox is all about balance and harmony, so if you are out of balance or in a disharmonious state, this would be a great time to set your intent in any way if you would like to come back to a place of equanimity.  Certainly the world needs more souls who are grounded and settled in their bodies right now!

If all goes well, I will post some photos in a few days.  Happy Equinox to all!  In the mean time, please enjoy my photo of Cedar Breaks at sunset taken a week ago.

Rock Art

One of the reasons why I was so excited to visit Vernal and the PhenomeCon event was to visit 2 of the famous rock art panels in the area.  All of the petroglyphs are of the Fremont Indian style and are about 1000 years old. Very special!

The day before the conference, I drove 6 hours northeast from Cedar City and went directly to the Dinosaur National Monument in northern Utah.  My interest was not in the dinosaurs, but the rock art located in the monument at McKee Springs.  To get there, I drove from the visitor center 10 miles on a paved road and an additional 12 miles on a dirt road.  No one was out there!  Here is the escarpment where the rock art was located.

I had to climb the hill to get to the sandstone cliff.  Here are the fabulous petroglyphs.

The next day, which was the first day of the conference, I took some time off at lunch to drive northwest of Vernal to the McConkie Ranch.  This is private property, but the owners have been very gracious in allowing people on to the property to view the petroglyphs.  Here is a view of the escarpment where the rock art is located.  Another steep climb to get to the rock art
Here it is!

I passed a lovely grey and white kitten in the bushes on the way out to the panels, and he jumped out at me on my way back to the parking lot.  What a cutie!  He followed me all the way back to my car.  I could have brought home a barn cat.
I have no way of interpreting what all of this rock art means, but the designs were so elegant and most likely meaningful and sacred to the Fremont Indians.  Even though these 2 days were sunny and very hot with temps in the high 80's, both excursions were well worth it.

PhenomeCon 2025

A few days ago I returned home after a fabulous trip up to Vernal, Utah for PhenomeCon 2025.  We had 4 full days of presentations and off site field trips, including a closing reception with costumes and a rock band on the final night.  Topics that were covered were Bigfoot, ghost hunting, UFO’s, strange psychic phenomenon of all sorts, and of course, Skinwalker Ranch, which is located near Vernal, in northeast Utah.  This was my chance to meet in person several of the personalities that I had been following for years on TV, radio, and via their podcasts.  If you would like more information about this event, you can go to www.phenomecon.net.  I am assuming that this web site will be up all year with information, and starting after the first of next year, there will probably be information about the 2026 event.

Whitley Strieber kicked off the first day with a fascinating lecture on his years of interactions with the Grey ET’s.  There were several time slots each day where several people were speaking in different locations at the conference center at the same time. There was a lot to choose from! Ben Woodruff, who is the biologist for Skinwalker Ranch, was one of my favorites.  He spoke about several animals that had been found dead there, but did not decay nor were they gnawed on by other animals who ordinarily would have done that.  Even after many months!  He also supervised the DNA analysis of a carcass that was found in the ranch’s creek.  It turned out to be 10% Asian and Greenland grey wolf, and 90% “other” from the wolf family.  How did it get there?  There was also coyote and raccoon DNA found in an unknown animals scat.  Predators may kill these animals but do not eat them.  Ben is thinking that there is an extra large animal from the cat family lurking there.  Ice Age jaguar came up as a possibility.

Other interesting speakers were Dave Schrader, James Keenan, William Henry, Mireya Mayor, Ami Bruni of ”Kindred Spirits”  fame, and one of my very favorites, David Paulides of “Missing 411” fame.  I am not much into Bigfoot, so I skipped most of those talks.  I did sign up to have a special lunch with George Noory who is the host for the “Coast to Coast AM” radio show.  It was so nice to see him in person after many years of listening to his voice on the radio.

Of course, meeting the Skinwalker Ranch cast was the reason why many people attended the conference.  Several spoke individually, and they all participated in a panel discussion.  Dr. Travis Taylor was a real hoot to listen to!  Quite a character.  No one is allowed to go on to ranch property without specific permission, but there were several off site activities that took people near to the ranch’s boundaries.  They even shot off several research rockets for conference attendees.

The whole area around Vernal is considered to be a UFO hotspot, and most people living in that area have witnessed not only UFO’s but a host of other psychic phenomena.  The native tribes there also have a multitude of stories about this.  Unfortunately, I did not witness anything.  If I go next year, I will certainly sign up for some of the offsite events which happen mainly at night!

Below are a few photos.  First is George Noory.

I had my picture taken at the closing reception with David Paulides.  Quite a few years ago when I was living near Mesa Verdi National Park, a man went missing in the park, and was never found.  I remember David referencing that case during one of his many appearances on “Coast to Coast”.

Here is a photo of myself, Paul Smith my remote viewing teacher, and 2 of his other students.  Paul was also a presenter at the conference.

Finally, just for kicks, here is a clip of the “Hitchhiker“ band, featuring Travis Taylor.  They played at the closing reception.  Not my cup of tea!  Too much yelling.
